LEARN HOW TO ENGAGE WITH POLITICIANS - JOIN AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL ON - 17 NOVEMBER 2021
Come and join an event run by Amnesty International Refugee Network to get tips on how to influence politicians.
Do you have an issue whether it be about the environment, housing affordability, university fees, the justice system, or the treatment of refugees but you aren't sure of the best way to have your voice heard?
Do you write letters to your local MP but don't get a reply, or sign a petition but wonder if it actually does anything?
Do you attend rallies but wonder if the government notices or call department offices only to have your message taken down by someone in admin?
If you are like us and want to know what the most effective strategies are for having your voice heard - whether it be a federal or a local matter then we invite you to attend this forum where we will hear directly from MPs on how they and their party respond to direct action from people like yourselves.
While this forum is being hosted by the Amnesty Refugee Network Victoria - this forum will not be on refugee policy. Instead, this will be a discussion on how our democracy works for us, (or in some cases fails), and strategies to being a more effective campaigner.
This event is being held on the country of the Wurudjeri people of the Kulin Nation. We acknowledge these lands have never been ceded.
